Manchester United came from 2-0 down to beat AS Roma 3-2 at Old Trafford in the Champions League league stage. Matías Soulé and Donyell Malen scored for Roma in the first 17 minutes, before Bruno Fernandes converted a penalty in the 58th minute to start the comeback.
Matheus Cunha scored in the 83rd and 86th minutes, the second goal giving United the win. He was then sent off in the first minute of stoppage time, and The Sun reports that Michael Carrick sent him straight down the tunnel rather than let him join the celebrations.
Fernandes told The Guardian that Carrick was right to drop him last month after criticism of his form. Mundo Deportivo reports that the captain also said there had been many lies about his relationship with the manager.
Carrick said he was not getting too carried away with the result, The Sun reports, after a first half that he described as woeful. United had gone into the break 2-0 down.
Manchester United play Aston Villa in the Premier League at Old Trafford on Sunday 8 November. AS Roma host Sassuolo in Serie A at the Stadio Olimpico on Saturday 7 November.
