Barcelona reportedly interested in Lisandro Martínez, with Balde a possible sale

Record reports Barcelona could move for the Manchester United defender on a specific condition, while The Sun says Alejandro Balde may leave to make room.

Barcelona are reportedly considering a move for Manchester United centre-back Lisandro Martínez, according to Record, which says the Catalan club would proceed only under a specific condition. The Sun reports that Barcelona could sell left-back Alejandro Balde to clear space for a new defender, as coach Hansi Flick deals with a run of injuries at the back.

Transfermarkt reports that Manchester United are looking to revive their interest in Balde, while FourFourTwo says United are moving closer to their first January signing, a deal that may help ease Martínez's situation. No fee has been reported and the moves remain speculation.

Martínez, 28, has made eight appearances for United this season without scoring, with an average rating of 6.57, and his contract runs until June 2027. His market value is €45m on Transfermarkt, while FootVal's valuation is €32m. Balde, 23, is under contract until June 2028, with a market value of €40m against FootVal's valuation of €39m.

The reports do not say what condition Barcelona have set. Whether a deal happens will depend on the Balde situation and on United's plans for their own January business.
