Erik ten Hag has said Cristiano Ronaldo was not fit or committed enough during their time together at Manchester United, in an interview with ESPN. The former United manager, now technical director at FC Twente, put it bluntly: “From Juventus onwards it's simply over.”

According to ESPN, Ten Hag said the forward was no longer capable of performing at the required level and was unwilling to work for the team. Maisfutebol reports that he placed the decline seven or eight years ago.

The remarks add to earlier comments by Ten Hag about the Portuguese. Ronaldo, 41, is contracted to Al-Nassr until June 2027 and has scored eight goals in ten appearances this season. FootVal values him at €6.3m, against a Transfermarkt market value of €10m.

The reports do not include a response from Ronaldo.
