Real Madrid are close to signing JJ Gabriel, a 16-year-old academy player at Manchester United, according to several outlets. Marca, cited by Foot Mercato, says the Spanish club is about to complete the deal, and Transfermarkt reports that Real have beaten Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona to his signature.

Gabriel asked to leave United in September after disagreements over his chances in the first team, according to ge. He had trained with the senior squad under Michael Carrick in pre-season. United made him a formal academy contract offer, but his representatives' expectations were not met.

TuttoMercatoWeb reports that Gabriel is already in Spain, with only the official announcement outstanding. No fee has been reported.
