The Premier League's Key Match Incidents Panel has found that Chelsea midfielder Cole Palmer should have been shown a straight red card in the London derby against Tottenham on 24 October. Palmer was sent off in that match, but for two yellow cards.

According to talkSPORT, his first booking came after a clash with Tottenham's Mateus Fernandes, who swiped the ball away with his arm and stopped Palmer running clear. Palmer then barged into Fernandes as he stood up, and the second yellow followed a separate incident of foul play.

The Sun reports that Tottenham were wrongly denied a penalty in the match, which Chelsea won at Stamford Bridge. The panel judged the referee Chris Kavanagh's errors not serious enough for VAR John Brooks to intervene.
