AC Milan defender Koni De Winter has turned down a call-up to the Belgium squad, according to reports from Mundo Deportivo and The Sun. The 24-year-old is said to be unhappy with his lack of playing time.
The Sun reports that De Winter was in the matchday squad for Belgium's last nine matches but spent all of them on the bench. Mundo Deportivo says the decision puts his participation at Euro 2028 in doubt.
Belgium coach Mark Van Bommel has warned De Winter that the decision will have consequences, Football Italia reports.
FootVal's valuation of De Winter is €26m, slightly above his market value of €25m on Transfermarkt. He has made 10 appearances for Milan this season with an average rating of 6.75, and his contract runs until June 2030.
