Ivan Toney has pleaded not guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm at Southwark Crown Court. The Al-Ahli striker is accused of headbutting and punching Saber Da Silva at 100 Wardour Street in Soho, London, last December.

His trial has been scheduled to begin on 12 June 2028 — three days into the Euro 2028 tournament — which in effect rules Toney out of the competition for England.

Toney, 30, attended a pre-trial hearing and confirmed his not guilty plea from the dock. He was released on bail following the hearing.

The striker represented England at last summer's World Cup and currently plays for Al-Ahli in Saudi Arabia, where FootVal's valuation puts him at €15.8m. His contract with the club runs until June 2028.
