Thierno Barry scored in the second half as Everton beat Newcastle United 1-0 at St James' Park on Monday, their first away league win of the season. Sky Sports described the result as deserved against a lacklustre Newcastle side, who were booed off at half-time and full-time.

L'Équipe reports that the win moves Everton up to seventh in the Premier League table. The clubs had met on Thursday in the Carabao Cup, which Everton won 3-1.

Barry has three goals in eight appearances this season, and FootVal's valuation of the 24-year-old French striker is €36m, slightly above his market value of €35m on Transfermarkt. He is under contract until June 2029.

Jack Grealish was again left out of the squad, The Guardian reports, after being dropped from the cup tie for disciplinary reasons. The Athletic says a crucial juncture in the 31-year-old's career is approaching.
