Spain's refereeing committee, the CTA, has admitted that the penalty awarded to Real Madrid against Racing Santander should not have been given. Kylian Mbappé converted it in the 11th minute of the 3-0 win at El Sardinero on Sunday 1 November.

The review, shown on the RFEF programme Tiempo de Revisión, looked at the moment Mbappé ran into the area with the ball. Matteo Prati put his arm out in front of him, but the committee said he used no force, so there was no clear cause and effect for the fall.

The committee also faulted the referee, José Luis Munuera Montero, and the VAR for the decision. DAZN cameras had already caught Munuera Montero explaining the call to Racing coach José Alberto at the end of the match.

The same programme also reviewed other disputed incidents from the round, at Getafe and San Mamés.
