Paris Saint-Germain have decided against making a move for Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Ibrahim Maza in the January transfer window, RMC Sport reports, despite the 20-year-old Algeria international having been placed on the club's shortlist as a potential replacement for the injured Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.
Earlier, Sky Sport DE had reported concrete PSG interest, with Maza's camp aware of the approach and his name circulating alongside other candidates. TuttoMercatoWeb also cited contact between the clubs. RMC Sport now says PSG are not interested in bringing him in this winter, regardless of his undeniable talent.
Kvaratskhelia, who tore his ACL, had surgery and PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi visited him at the Aspetar clinic in Doha to show his support, according to Ben Jacobs. The Georgian winger, valued at €149m by FootVal, is now set to begin rehabilitation.
Leverkusen had made clear they were not prepared to sell in any case, with the club working to extend Maza's contract beyond 2030 with a salary increase. He has contributed two goals and two assists in seven appearances this season, carrying an average rating of 7.37. FootVal values him at €56m.
