Bayern Munich eased into the DFB-Pokal round of 16 with a 6-1 home victory over second-division Magdeburg, a result that was shaped largely by Michael Olise, who contributed two goals and an assist in a dominant performance.
Harry Kane, named Ballon d'Or winner two days earlier, did not start the match. The club marked his award before kick-off, though according to RMC Sport, Kane did not present the trophy to supporters. Mundo Deportivo reports that the decision to rest him points to Saturday's Bundesliga fixture against Borussia Dortmund.
Kane came off the bench to a celebratory reception, with the evening carrying a festive atmosphere despite his limited playing time, Sky Sports noted.
Olise, 24, has been in outstanding form this season, carrying seven goals and three assists into the match across seven Bundesliga appearances. FootVal's valuation of the French winger stands at €196m, slightly above his €180m Transfermarkt market value. Bayern will now turn their full attention to the Dortmund derby.
