Napoli director admits club were 'fortunate' to sell Lukaku as Fenerbahçe weigh January exit

Giovanni Manna said Napoli were lucky to find a buyer for Lukaku, while reports suggest Fenerbahçe could move him on in January with three clubs interested.

Napoli sporting director Giovanni Manna has said his club were fortunate to find a buyer for Romelu Lukaku, with the Belgian striker now at Fenerbahçe and reportedly struggling to meet expectations there too.

Speaking on the podcast Colpi da maestro, Manna said Napoli were 'fortunate to find someone to buy Lukaku', while adding that he still wishes the striker well. The remarks drew attention in Turkey given Lukaku's underwhelming performances since joining Fenerbahçe.

According to Turkish reports, Fenerbahçe are now considering parting ways with Lukaku as early as the January transfer window, with three clubs said to have expressed interest in the 33-year-old.

Lukaku has managed one goal and one assist in eight appearances this season, posting an average rating of 6.40. FootVal's valuation places him at €3.5m, well below his Transfermarkt market value of €6m, and his contract at Fenerbahçe runs until June 2027.
