Martinez red card in 83 seconds seals 2-0 Chelsea win over Man United
Two yellow cards in under two minutes from the Argentine defender handed Chelsea a penalty and condemned United to a ninth winless game.

Manchester United lost 2-0 to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge after defender Lisandro Martinez was sent off for two yellow cards within 83 seconds, handing the hosts a penalty and effectively ending the contest.
Morgan Rogers broke the deadlock early in the second half, brushing past Martinez before the Argentine brought him down clumsily for his first booking. Martinez then received his second yellow card, confirmed by VAR, after a deliberate elbow on Wesley Fofana. Cole Palmer converted the resulting penalty to make it 2-0.
Manager Michael Carrick was reported by several outlets to have ignored Martinez after the dismissal, though Carrick later issued a public verdict on the incident. The result left United without a win in nine Premier League games, with ESPN raising the spectre of a relegation battle.
FootVal values Martinez at €32m — against his market value of €45m — and the 28-year-old centre-back, whose contract runs until June 2027, has averaged a rating of 6.57 across eight appearances this season. The performance and its aftermath add further pressure on Carrick, who this weekend admitted his future at the club is in doubt.
