Madueke accuses Mac Allister of trying to bait him into red card at Anfield

The Arsenal winger says the Liverpool midfielder deliberately provoked him in the 79th minute of Arsenal's 1-0 win at Anfield.

Noni Madueke has said Alexis Mac Allister tried to bait him into receiving a red card during Arsenal's 1-0 Premier League win at Anfield on Sunday. The two players clashed in the 79th minute after Mac Allister had shouted at Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard and tapped him on the back of the head while he was on the ground.

When Madueke stepped in, the pair came face to face and Mac Allister went to the floor after what appeared to be a minimal contact. Madueke told The Sun that he feared he would be sent off, describing Mac Allister as 'clever' for the way he engineered the situation.

Pundit Jamie Carragher, a former Liverpool player, was scathing in his assessment of Mac Allister, calling the behaviour a 'joke' and demanding a rule change to stop players going to ground so easily. Mundo Deportivo reported that Carragher's words were widely shared, with the phrase 'this has to stop' circulating on social media.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta said his side had accomplished their mission by ending a 14-year wait for a win at Anfield. The result moved Arsenal to the top of the Premier League table, according to already published reports.
