Maxence Lacroix has suffered a Grade 3 hamstring tear and is expected to be sidelined for at least six weeks, according to journalist Sacha Tavolieri. The 26-year-old was forced off during Chelsea's Carabao Cup tie against Liverpool and will miss the club's Premier League clash with Manchester United.
Chelsea head coach Xabi Alonso confirmed the injury at his press conference, saying Lacroix would be unavailable until after the international break. RMC Sport and L'Équipe both report that the defender has already been ruled out of France's next Nations League gathering as a result.
Lacroix has made eight appearances for Chelsea in all competitions this season, averaging a rating of 6.76 according to FootVal, which values him at €62m — slightly above his Transfermarkt market value of €60m. His contract at Stamford Bridge runs until June 2032.
The timing is a significant blow for both club and country. Chelsea are already without Jorrel Hato for the Manchester United fixture, further stretching Alonso's defensive options.
