Inter Miami CF were held to a 2-2 draw by FC Cincinnati after Riquelme Fillipi scored in the 90th minute to cancel out a late Cincinnati equaliser. Luis Suárez had given Miami the lead before the visitors fought back to level, and Fillipi's first MLS goal rescued a point.

The result leaves Inter Miami third in the Eastern Conference on 56 points, behind leaders Nashville, according to Mundo Deportivo. The club had already secured a play-off berth heading into the game and the draw was their eleventh of the season.

Messi, who picked up his fifth yellow card of the campaign during the match, remains eligible for Miami's next fixture against the New England Revolution, ESPN reported. The Argentine was not suspended because the threshold for a ban had not been reached.

Transfer reporter Fabrizio Romano has denied reports that Messi is in negotiations to return to boyhood club Newell's Old Boys. Romano stated there are no such talks and that Messi is happy in Miami with his family, intending to fulfil his contract which runs until December 2028, with the possibility of extending beyond that to be assessed later. FootVal's valuation of the 39-year-old stands at €10.8m, against a Transfermarkt market value of €15m; he has contributed 25 goals and 12 assists in 28 appearances this season, averaging a rating of 8.50.
