Inter Milan and AC Milan have officially unveiled plans for their new shared stadium, which will be named the Generali Stadium after a naming rights agreement with Italian insurance giant Generali. The announcement was made at a gala event held at the Castello Sforzesco in Milan.

The new ground will have a capacity of 71,500 seats and is expected to cost the two clubs a combined €1.2 billion. According to ESPN, the naming rights deal alone is worth $725 million. The stadium is set to be completed in time for the 2031-32 season and, per kicker, is also scheduled to serve as a venue for the home European Championship the following year.

The Generali Stadium will be built on the site of the current San Siro, which opened in 1926 and will largely be demolished. Some Inter fans present at the gala event voiced their opposition to the demolition of the historic ground.
