Gonçalo Ramos reveals Amorim called him personally and explains PSG frustration

Gonçalo Ramos has spoken at length about his move from Paris Saint-Germain to AC Milan this summer, revealing that coach Ruben Amorim called him personally to push the transfer through, according to interviews reported by Corriere dello Sport and TuttoMercatoWeb. The 25-year-old also described his relationship with Luka Modric at Milanello as an important part of settling in at his new club.

Ramos was candid about his unhappiness at PSG, where he spent much of his time as a high-profile substitute. 'I had reached a stage where there was only one thing I wanted: to leave,' he told Foot Mercato. He added that he had wanted to depart as early as January and acknowledged the situation had been 'frustrating' at times, though he said he chose not to complain publicly because he knew it would damage him.

The Portuguese forward also looked back on his time at Benfica, recalling a sharp exchange with Jorge Jesus, who reportedly told him: 'Is that how you want to go to Bayern? You're staying here.' Ramos credited that demanding approach with raising standards within the Portugal squad.

On a potential future return to Portugal, Ramos told Maisfutebol that Benfica remains his only option. He stopped short of making a firm promise but made clear he would not represent any rival. FootVal values him at €49m, close to his Transfermarkt market value of €50m; he is contracted to Milan until June 2031 and has made eight appearances this season, scoring twice.
