Frosinone demolish Lecce 5-0 to move within a point of Milan

Raimondo and Birligea led the rout at the Stirpe as Frosinone climb to 17 points after matchday 9 of Serie A.

FootVal Newsroom

Frosinone crushed Lecce 5-0 at the Stadio Stirpe on Thursday evening in Serie A's ninth round, with Antonio Raimondo and Birligea the standout performers in what Tuttosport described as a "manita" — a five-goal hammering.

Raimondo, who had already scored in the first half, added Frosinone's third goal in the 59th minute to put the result beyond doubt, according to kicker. The 22-year-old centre-forward has now scored seven goals in eight league appearances this season.

The victory takes Mauro Alvini's side to 17 points, leaving them just one point behind Milan in the Serie A standings. Lecce, managed by Di Francesco, were left to reflect on a heavy defeat that will raise serious questions about their defensive organisation.

FootVal values Raimondo at €7.4m, slightly above his €7m Transfermarkt listing, while Georgian winger Giorgi Kvernadze — another Frosinone player attracting transfer interest — is rated at €8.8m by FootVal against a €8m market value.
