Flamengo defeated Vasco 4-1 in a Rio derby to move clear at the summit of the Brasileirão. Pedro scored twice and Samuel Lino also netted a brace, with the match played at Nilton Santos.
The result gives Flamengo a three-point advantage over second-placed Palmeiras, and coach Leonardo Jardim's side also hold a superior head-to-head record, with two more wins than their rivals.
Jardim welcomed the margin but urged caution after the final whistle. "The title? There is still a lot of the season left," he said, insisting the team must focus game by game.
Former Atlético de Madrid winger Samuel Lino, whose FootVal valuation stands at €19.9m, was particularly influential, causing problems down the left throughout the contest.
