Manchester United head coach Michael Carrick and club captain Bruno Fernandes held a face-to-face meeting at the club's Carrington training base ahead of the Premier League trip to Chelsea, with Fernandes telling Carrick he is fully committed to turning the club's season around, according to The Guardian.
The Guardian reports that the meeting took place before training on Tuesday morning and was followed by a broader squad gathering. Fernandes is now expected to start at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
The talks followed a public falling-out last week in which Fernandes had questioned Carrick's tactical approach. Tensions escalated further after Fernandes was left on the bench for Sunday's defeat to Bournemouth and reportedly liked a cryptic social-media post.
Corriere dello Sport also reports that United have confirmed Carrick will remain in charge for the Chelsea match, despite speculation about his future. According to the Italian outlet, the club is aware of possible alternatives but is pressing ahead with its current head coach.
FootVal values Fernandes at €25m, against a Transfermarkt market value of €35m. The 32-year-old is under contract at Old Trafford until June 2027 and has scored three goals in seven appearances this season.
