El Mala scores on Bundesliga debut as Köln earn 1-1 draw at Union Berlin
Malek El Mala equalised after Haberer had put Union ahead, five days after Köln beat the same side 5-0 in the cup.

Malek El Mala scored on his Bundesliga debut as 1. FC Köln came back to draw 1-1 at Union Berlin on 1 November. Haberer had given the hosts the lead, but the substitute levelled for the visitors, kicker and Sportschau report.
The point follows a 5-0 win over Union in the DFB-Pokal five days earlier, so the result is a letdown in comparison. Der Spiegel notes that Köln again have a brother pair in the Bundesliga for the first time since Klaus and Thomas Allofs 40 years ago. Malek is the elder brother of Said El Mala.
Said El Mala, 20, is a left winger under contract until June 2031. FootVal's valuation of him is €55m, 10% above his €50m market value on Transfermarkt. This season he has played six matches, scoring twice, with an average rating of 6.77.
The point keeps Köln out of the relegation zone, according to Transfermarkt. The club's next Bundesliga fixtures will show whether the result gives them a lift.
