AC Milan owner Gerry Cardinale has publicly reaffirmed his support for head coach Ruben Amorim in an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport, stating that Amorim's position is not under threat despite a 4-2 home defeat to Bologna.
Cardinale, invoking a line from the film Top Gun, told the newspaper he would not abandon his manager, saying: "I will trust Amorim and he's my manager, the one I personally picked." He added that Amorim had his full confidence.
The Milan owner also promised the club would move to strengthen the squad in the January transfer window, suggesting reinforcements are seen as a priority to address what Amorim himself has described as fatigue within the current group.
Despite the inconsistent results, Cardinale said he still considers the Serie A title within reach for Milan this season.
