Bruno Fernandes home burgled as Atlético Madrid move 'accelerates' and Scholes urges Saudi exit

Bruno Fernandes has endured a turbulent week off the pitch as well as on it: Sport Bild reports his villa was broken into in what the outlet describes as a major shock for the United captain. The news comes as his future at Old Trafford looks increasingly uncertain.

According to FourFourTwo, a January move to Atlético Madrid is 'accelerating' following Fernandes's well-documented fallout with manager Michael Carrick, who dropped him as an unused substitute for United's 3-0 defeat to Bournemouth. Football Italia also reports that AC Milan are monitoring his situation, with Ruben Amorim said to be keeping a close eye on the 32-year-old.

Former United midfielder Paul Scholes has added his voice to speculation, advising Fernandes — according to Record — that he should leave European football for Saudi Arabia. talkSPORT had earlier reported that sources close to the situation believe 'it's coming to an end' for the Portuguese at Old Trafford.

Fernandes was officially placed 27th in the 2026 men's Ballon d'Or, confirmed by Fabrizio Romano and corroborated by Ben Jacobs. He is contracted at United until June 2027 and has contributed three goals and one assist across seven appearances this season, averaging a rating of 6.34. FootVal's valuation of the midfielder stands at €25m, below his Transfermarkt market value of €35m.

Carrick himself is reported to be on the brink of the sack following the Bournemouth defeat, meaning the situation around Fernandes could shift rapidly in the days ahead.
